For summer giveaways and outdoor events

A common mistake is choosing for the order date rather than the date they will be handed out. For summer, a cap, visor or sun hat is the better choice; for colder weather, switch to beanies. And do not fill the whole front: a more restrained logo makes people more likely to wear it outside work.

If the campaign needs to say more about the material, it is worth moving up a level and looking at caps in recycled cotton or other recycled fabrics. For logos with lots of detail or gradients, do not force very fine embroidery: a printed patch will handle it better. And if the cap is for everyday wear, keep the design small; on headwear, that discreet size is what gets the item worn out and about instead of left in a drawer.
